Butler, NJ

Butler is nestled in the foothills of the Ramapo Mountains and has a total area of 2.1 square miles. Butler is located 38 miles northwest from New York City. Butler Borough was named after Richard Butler, who made vast improvements to the town in the late 1800s, with his Rubber Comb and Jewelry Company, which in turn lead to the extensive growth of the town and surrounding area. Main Street in Butler is undergoing a revitalization. The previous location of the Pequannock Rubber Company, vacant for years, will be transformed into a retail, residential, and green way complex. The Borough Park and Main Street will be refurbished as well.
