The Town of Boonton was established in 1829 as a result of the construction of the Morris Canal and the development of the New Jersey Iron Company. Covering a geographic area of 2.45 square miles, the Town of Boonton is located in northeastern Morris County, about 25 miles west of the New York City and 7 miles north of Morristown. It's a well established community with older homes, abundant park lands, and convenient access to the metropolitan area via Route 287 and 80.
